23 Weeks Pregnant

How Far Along: 23 weeks and 3 days!

Size of baby: We have a little grapefruit!

Sleep: Suprisingly the most comfortable position I have found right now is sleeping on my back. I have no idea why, but it works for me.

Total Weight Gain: Around 10 lbs....but baby over one of them!

Symptoms: Heartburn. Every. time. I. eat. anything.

Movement: Lots of movement! Every family member has now been able to feel her kick.

Maternity Clothes: Pants, shirts, you name it. I can't fit my old clothes at all anymore.

Go-to eats: I just kind of want everything at this point and at the same time nothing...because I know I'm going to be tasting it for hours after I've eaten.

Best moment of the week: Going home to see my family and they got to feel her kick!

Gender: We're having a little girl!

What I wish people knew: I love being pregnant. Although I'm very uncomfortable and have crazy heartburn, I love every minute of it. Because pregnancy was really the only time I had with my son, I can fully appreciate most every aspect of this. Running into people who say "oh isn't it just the WORST" really bothers me because no....I can think of worse.

What I’m looking forward to: Just one more week until our next appointment...time has started to speed up a little ;)

Unfixable

I have to share some things that are going to make some people uncomfortable. I'm okay with that, but I know it's not going to be easy to read because you might want to try to fix me. You can't. You can't "fix" these feelings. You can't pray them away. You can't tell me to "just trust God" and go on with your day. Well, I guess you  can. But I can't. I am not in a good place. I am not okay. I don't even want to be okay at this point. I tell Jamey almost every night that I want to go back to the hospital. I want to lay in that bed. I want to kiss and cuddle my son. I want to stroke his cheeks. I don't care if they're cold. I don't care if he'll never open his eyes again. I just want to go back there and rock him in my arms. I took pictures of the bruises on my arms and hands from being in the hospital. There are so few memories of my son, that I didn't even want to forget that part. My blood pressure w

Rain Clouds

I really don't want to feel this way for the rest of my life, but I'm afraid I might. I'll be perfectly fine for days, maybe even weeks, and then it just seems to hit me out of nowhere. Something huge is missing from my life. I feel homesick even though I'm home. Jamey and I packed a bag tonight for when we go up to the hospital. We read through the lists of suggestions from other moms, mostly of what to bring for baby. Only because we don't know what we'll need for her. We bought two outfits for Sam, bathed him once, and he only wore one diaper. I know the hospital has most of the stuff we'll need, but I like to bring a little extra. As much fun as it is to pack a coming home outfit, it's equally sad for us. I asked Jamey if any of this made him sad and he said, "yes, it does." I don't want the happy moments in my life to be overshadowed by this sadness that we have for Sam. Although I don't ever want to forget him in any way,

The Hardest Part

One year ago today I had my very last prenatal checkup. I saw both my maternal-fetal medicine specialist and my ob/gyn. My blood pressure was great. Gabriel was still there and moving. There was no indication that within 24 hours my liver would start to fail. I didn't know that April 13th, 2018 would be the last time I ever saw my baby on an ultrasound. It would be the last time I heard his heartbeat. I didn't know that the next morning a pain would begin. The next day I would meet my sweet little 2-month-old nephew. I wouldn't be able to eat because I just wasn't feeling well. I would stay up late with the pain, sipping water and waiting for it to pass. The next night would be spent in the ER, not knowing we would be meeting Gabriel face to face just 10 hours later. One year ago was the beginning of goodbye to this teeny boy. And I had no idea. Wednesday morning. It's time to get ready to leave. Except it's 3:00am. I keep waking up, worried tha
